Noordhoek | Residential architectural project
Set within the coastal landscape of Noordhoek, this residential project involved the comprehensive renovation and transformation of an existing family home. The brief focused on modernising the house while carefully responding to the lifestyle of a growing family and the relaxed character of its surroundings.
The intervention included a complete upgrade of the existing house, most notably the replacement of the original thatched roof with a contemporary metal roof sheeting system. This change not only improved durability and performance but also allowed the architectural language of the home to evolve into a more refined and contemporary expression.
The project also introduced a natural swimming pool and a new pool house, extending the living environment into the garden and reinforcing the strong indoor–outdoor lifestyle that defines homes in this part of the Cape Peninsula.
Internally, the house was fully reimagined through the careful selection of new finishes, fittings, and materials. The updated palette introduces a lighter, more contemporary atmosphere while maintaining warmth and comfort throughout the home. Natural textures and materials were used to create spaces that feel both modern and timeless.
To accommodate the family living in the house during construction, the renovation was carefully phased and executed in multiple stages. This approach allowed the home to gradually transform while maintaining its functionality as a lived-in family environment throughout the process.
